Srinagar : The president of Srinagar’s street vendors, Naseer Sofi, has expressed deep concerns about the deteriorating conditions of their current working area.
Talking to Kashmir Horizon, Sofi said, “Two years ago, we were shifted to this location, but the situation here is far from ideal. Back at our previous spot, we earned better and could manage our households comfortably, but today, we are struggling.” Naseer highlighted their expectations from the National Conference (NC), saying, “We voted for NC, hoping their government would provide us relief. However, no one has come forward to address our problems.” Describing the challenges of their current location, he added, “This area is in terrible condition. Even a little rain creates a flood-like situation, making it impossible to work. NC’s Parliament member Aga Ruhullah visited the locality but did not meet with the street vendors.” He appealed to the government to address their plight, either by relocating them to a better place or by improving the infrastructure in the area to ensure a safe and sustainable working environment.
