Pulwama: The Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Tral, Rafiq Ahmad, on Thursday expressed his deep concern over the recent tragic road accident in Srinagar, which resulted in the loss of two young lives. Speaking to the media, the MLA extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased students, praying for their souls to rest in peace.
The MLA emphasized the importance of road safety and urged both parents and youth to play their part in preventing such tragedies. “Parents must take responsibility for guiding their children and ensuring they do not engage in dangerous or reckless activities,” he said. “It is crucial that young people refrain from performing stunts on the roads, as such behavior not only endangers their own lives but also causes immense grief to their families.” In a show of support for local initiatives promoting road safety, the MLA commended the staff and students of AKMAL Institute Tral for organizing an awareness rally on “Road Safety.” The rally aimed to educate the public, especially young drivers, about the importance of safe driving practices, and was attended by ADC Tral, SDPO Tral, SHO Tral and other officials. The MLA also appealed to the local police to remain vigilant and ensure that traffic violations, including speeding and reckless driving, are strictly monitored and addressed in Tral. In addition, he urged the public to adhere to legal parking practices and avoid engaging in illegal parking, which often contributes to traffic congestion and accidents. “Everyone should be mindful of where they park their vehicles and ensure they are not blocking roads or causing unnecessary hazards for others,” the MLA concluded.
