ICSSR-Sponsors 10 Day National Research Methodology Course in Social Sciences at Central University Jammu

Jammu : The Department of Economics at Central University of Jammu has inaugurated an ICSSR-sponsored Ten-Day National Research Methodology Course in Social Sciences, exclusively designed for Ph.D. scholars. This initiative aligns with the vision of the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sanjeev Jain, to create a robust academic environment and position CUJ as a center of excellence.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Prof. Yahwant Singh, Registrar, Central University of Jammu. The event commenced with the traditional lamp lighting, symbolizing the university’s commitment to illuminating minds with knowledge. Prof. Singh commended the Department of Economics for organizing such an impactful workshop and encouraged them to continue hosting similar events regularly. Addressing the participants, Prof. Singh highlighted the significance of the course: “This workshop is a golden opportunity for scholars from across the country to enhance their research skills. It will not only deepen your understanding but also foster collaborations and networks that are vital for academic growth. Make the most of these ten days, and I am confident it will inspire you in your research endeavors.”
The workshop has attracted Ph.D. scholars from diverse regions, including Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, New Delhi, Punjab, and Rajasthan, fostering a vibrant exchange of ideas. Prof. Ashwini Kumar Nanda, Head, Department of Economics and Course Director, formally welcomed the dignitaries and participants, emphasizing the critical role of research methodology in advancing social sciences.
Dr. Shaveta Kohli, Associate Professor and Course Co-Director, provided a detailed overview of the course, outlining its comprehensive curriculum. Key topics include: Research design and its components, Field research and questionnaire design, Hypothesis testing, correlation, and regression analysis, Publication ethics and proposal writing, Training on advanced research software, such as SPSS, EViews, and ATLAS.ti The workshop aims to empower participants with practical skills and theoretical insights, enabling them to conduct high-quality research and publish in reputed journals.
The workshop sessions was taken by Dr. Manas Pradhan, a distinguished academic from the International Institute for Population Sciences, Mumbai. His session provided participants with expert insights into effective research practices and methodologies. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Anil Kumar Bharti, who acknowledged the efforts of the organizers, the presence of the dignitaries, and the enthusiasm of the participants. This workshop promises to be a transformative journey for scholars, equipping them with the tools to address contemporary research challenges while fostering a spirit of collaboration and innovation. The Department of Economics looks forward to a productive and stimulating workshop, confident that it will contribute significantly to the research endeavors of participants and further the mission of academic excellence at Central University of Jammu.
