Six arrested for illegal extraction & transportation of minerals in Kulgam, 5 vehicles also seized: Police

Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it along with geology and mining department have arrested six persons for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Kulgam besides, seizing five vehicles from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that the joint teams of Police along with Geology and Mining Department have seized five vehicles (2 Tractors, 2 Tippers and 1 JCB) involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals from river Vaishow and other Nallahs.
Stating that police has later accordingly registered the cases under relevant sections of law at Police Station Qazigund and Police Station Kulgam and initiated further investigation into the case.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement police appealed people to come forward or Dial-112 regarding any information about illegal extraction of minerals and warned that people indulging in illegal activities shall strictly be dealt with.
