Janjatya Gaurav Divas celebrated in Kupwara

Kupwara : Janjatya Gaurav Divas was on Friday celebrated with great zeal in frontier Kupwara district.
A mega event under Dharti Aaba Gramin Utkarsh Abhyan (DAGUA) was held at Gujjar Bakewell Hostel Kupwara, highlighting the efforts of district administration Kupwara to transform rural & tribal areas of the district through sustainable and inclusive development.
The event featured activities such as orientation programme, cultural performances from ST Community, awareness campaign, exhibition showcasing tribal innovations, sharing of success stories of ST entrepreneurs , speeches, showcase of tribal art, dance, and history, fostering respect and appreciation for these communities among the wider public.
MLA Kupwara, Fayaz Ahmed Mir was chief Guest on the occasion.
District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan, vice chairman district Development Council Haji Farooq Mir, DDC member Kalaroos Ch. Mustafa Rahi , District Officers, ST citizens, General public, students and ST entrepreneurs participated into the event.
While addressing the gathering, the District Development Commissioner said that the event emphasises the empowerment and development of tribal communities, as well as the promotion of their rich cultural heritage.
DC said that a 9 day long nationwide IEC campaign will create awareness about Dharti Aaba Gram Utkarsh Abhyan ( DAGUA) during the period from Nov 15 to Nov 26 in designated Panchayats across the district.
During the IEC Orientation programmes on PESA act, FRA will be held besides block level Adhar enrolment , saturation camps for distribution of entitlements, like Ayushman Bharat, Kisan Saman Yojana etc will be organised which will be focusing on empowering tribal residents.
Mega event also included singing of the national anthem, fostering a sense of patriotism and unity among participants.
Events included cultural performances, speeches, and activities that showcased tribal art, dance, and history, fostering respect and appreciation for these communities among the wider public.
The audience was captivated by scintillating and mesmerizing cultural performances by the students of Gujjar Bakerwal Hostel Kupwara that showcased vibrant music, dance, and art forms.
These performances highlighted the richness of cultural heritage, leaving the spectators thoroughly engaged and entertained.
Stalls set up by the different line departments provided valuable assistance to tribal participants and offered resources, information, and support related to animal care, farming techniques, and agricultural advancements tailored to their needs.
A “Nasha Mukt” (Drug-Free) pledge was taken as part of the program, promoting a strong commitment to saying no to drugs.
The event also included a plantation drive which was lead by dignitaries promoting environment sustainability, forest protection and conservation.
Meanwhile special gram sabhas were organised in designated panchayats across the district where Prime Minister’s speech was live streamed and Orientation programmes on PESA act, FRA were held.
