Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyaan inaugural function held at Keller, Shopian

Shopian : A mega inaugural function of Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyaan (DAJGUA) was on Friday held at Keller Shopian, aimed for tribal upliftment and development which coupled with the celebration of the Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, to honour the Darti Aaba’s Legacy.
The function was presided by MLA Shopian, Shabir Ahmad Kullay and Deputy Commissioner, Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar.
A large number of people belonging to the tribal dominated villages of the tehsil attended the function and celebrated the day with colourful cultural performances by students and local artists.
Various DDC members including from tribal communities,Tribal activists, intellectuals, and the general public on the occasion highlighted the numerous issues ranging from health, education to forest rights for redressal and tribal empowerment.
Nasha Mukht and sanitation pledges were also taken on the occasion with the aim to remind people of the twin challenges of drug addiction and environmental pollution and the need to curb both these menaces.
On the occasion, stalls of different welfare and employment based departments were set up to aware people of the different government schemes and interventions available for them.
At the outset, ADDC, Dr. Nasir Ahmad Lone welcomed the participants and enumerated the history and context of the celebration of the day while highlighting the contribution of the great tribal freedom fighter, Birsa Munda Ji.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner expressed happiness over the overwhelming presence of people at the event and illustrated the different interventions to be taken by the district administration under the ambitious programme of Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyaan (DAJGUA).
He highlighted interventions across 25 sectors that shall be targeted in the tribal dominated villages in the district taking in its ambit all important sectors of tribal welfare and development.
On the occasion, MLA Shopian emphasised on holistic development of the tribal population should be the focus of administration to bridge the development gaps,
He emphasised the contribution of tribals toward maintenance of forests while also asking for smooth provision of all rights under the Forest Rights Act to them.
A felicitation function and distribution of different government entitlements among beneficiaries was also done on the occasion.
Meanwhile, Gram Sabha at Kathahallan was held on Friday under the program aimed to chalk out the developmental trajectory of the Panchayat.
The administration led by DPO Shopian and BDO Keller along with locals prioritised the initiatives for the panchayat development.
Besides, officers who attended the program; ADC, Zakir Hussain Faaz, DDC members, Fazal ud- din, Raja Waheed, Choudhary Ab Hameed, Muzaffar Ahmad, Safia Riyaz, Tahir Ahmad and other representatives were the special invitees to the event.
