Srinagar : The Branch MSME Development and Facilitation Office (DFO) Srinagar, under the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, successfully organized an Entrepreneurship Awareness Program (EAP) on the theme “Metallurgy and Materials – Forging the Future of Innovation and Entrepreneurship” at Sanatnagar, Srinagar.
The event brought together key stakeholders from various sectors to discuss the potential of the manufacturing industries in the Kashmir region and their role in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.
The program was inaugurated by SaheelAlaqband, Assistant Director, MSME, who delivered the keynote address. In his speech, Alaqband highlighted the significant opportunities in the region for entrepreneurs. He stressed the need for developing sustainable industries and emphasized the importance of protecting the intellectual property (IP) of enterprises to encourage innovation and secure the long-term success of local businesses.
He urged the participants to focus on building a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem in Kashmir that could lead to both economic growth and job creation.
The event also featured Syed ZeeshanAndrabi, Functional Manager, District Industries Centre (DIC) Pulwama, who provided a comprehensive presentation on the various schemes and financial support available for entrepreneurs through the Industries and Commerce Department. His insights on government initiatives for industrial development and entrepreneurship were well-received by the attendees, particularly aspiring entrepreneurs looking for guidance on funding and capacity-building programs.
Ubaid Mehraj, Managing Director of L Crystals, delivered an insightful talk on the state of the metallurgy and mining industry in the Kashmir division. He shared his experiences in the industry, offering valuable perspectives on the challenges and opportunities present in the local metallurgy sector.
In addition, SamrahShakeel, an officer from the Skill Development Department, highlighted the importance of skill-building initiatives and vocational training for young entrepreneurs. She outlined the role of the Skill Development Department in enhancing the capabilities of the local workforce to meet the demands of emerging industries, particularly in metallurgy and materials.
Nadeem Bhat, Scientific Officer at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar, emphasized the state-of-the-art facilities available at NIT, which can be leveraged by aspiring entrepreneurs to develop innovative solutions in metallurgy and materials. Mr. Bhat encouraged participants to take full advantage of the institute’s research labs, incubation centers, and technical expertise to transform their ideas into viable business ventures.
The event witnessed active participation from local entrepreneurs, technocrats, and officials from the MSME sector. The program provided a platform for exchanging ideas, exploring business opportunities, and fostering collaborations in the field of metallurgy and materials.
The Entrepreneurship Awareness Program was successfully conducted with the support from MSME TDC Extension centre Srinagar, and concluded with a call to action for promoting innovation, protecting intellectual property, and nurturing entrepreneurship in the region. The event underscored the crucial role of MSMEs in driving economic development in Kashmir and creating a dynamic ecosystem that can support emerging industries.
