DDC Chairman Rajouri reviews physical, financial progress under flagship schemes

Stress laid on maintaining quality standards in project execution

Rajouri : In a pivotal meeting aimed at accelerating the district’s developmental trajectory, Advocate Choudhary Naseem Liaqat, Chairman of the District Development Council (DDC), Rajouri, convened a comprehensive review session to assess the ongoing projects across multiple sectors. The meeting evaluated the physical and financial progress across flagship schemes being implemented by the Rural Development Department (RDD), Public Works Department (PWD), Jal Shakti Department, and Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC)/CEO of the Council, Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa, presented an update on the projects undertaken this financial year, detailing the progress achieved thus far.
The review encompassed numerous schemes, including the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), District Capex Budget, National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) and Awas Plus, SAMAGRA Shiksha, PMGSY, National Health Mission (NHM), Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), minor irrigation works, NABARD projects, Central Road Fund (CRF), and schemes for elementary and secondary education, among others.
During the session, DDC Chairman Advocate Choudhary Naseem Liaqat directed all departments to ensure high-quality standards in project execution, emphasizing the importance of continuous monitoring and judicious fund utilization. The chairman acknowledged various challenges impacting the district’s development and directed officers to work closely with DDC members to ensure effective collaboration and holistic progress.
Several critical issues were raised by the council members, including water scarcity, delays in JJM scheme implementation, deteriorating road conditions, and the sluggish pace of some ongoing projects. Responding to these concerns, the DDC Chairman instructed the officers to expedite measures for addressing these challenges and meeting project deadlines.
Additionally, regarding staff rationalization, the Chairman directed the CEO Education, Bishamber Dass, to take necessary actions to ensure equitable staff distribution, addressing needs in underserved areas.
Key DDC members present included DDC Member Rajouri Sai Abdul Rashid, DDC Member Sunderbani Rajinder Sharma, DDC Member Darhal Iqbal Malik, DDC Member Thanamandi Abdul Qayoom Mir, DDC Member Dhangri Rameshwar Singh, DDC Member Doongi Khalid Choudhary, DDC Member Kalakote Anita Thakur, and DDC Member Mougla Shamim Akhter.
Other prominent attendees included ADDC/CEO DD Council Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa; Chief Planning Officer (CPO) Maqsood Ahmed; Superintending Engineer PWD (R&B) Devi Dayal; Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Vijay Kumar; Assistant Commissioner Panchayat (ACP) Sheraz Chowhan; CEO Education Bishamber Dass; Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Manohar Rana; and Executive Engineers from PWD, Power Development Department (PDD), Jal Shakti Department, and Rural Engineering Wing (REW), along with Block Development Officers (BDOs) and other officials from relevant departments.
