Baramulla : The Central Integrated Pest Management Centre (CIPMC) Srinagar, operating under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, conducted a training session focused on the NPSS (National Pest Surveillance System) mobile application at Kissan Khidmat Ghar in Watergam, Baramulla.
This initiative was designed to equip progressive farmers from the Baramulla district with knowledge about the NPSS app and its features for effective pest management.
Dr. Haroon Rashid Hakla, Assistant Plant Protection Officer (PP) at CIPMC Srinagar, facilitated the training, offering in-depth instruction on the application’s functionalities and its significant role in assisting farmers with pest surveillance and management.
He highlighted how the app provides farmers with real-time information and guidance, enabling them to respond promptly to pest threats, which is vital for safeguarding crops and boosting agricultural productivity.
The event was attended by several prominent officials, including Riyaz Ahmed Mir, Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO) Rohama; Shafat Ahmed Raja, Subject Matter Specialist (DL) Baramulla; and Shahnaz Nabi, Agriculture Extension Officer (AEO) Watergam.
These officials reaffirmed their dedication to supporting farmers through the integration of advanced agricultural technologies and mobile applications like NPSS, which foster sustainable and efficient pest control methods.
This training session exemplifies the Ministry’s continuous efforts to modernize agriculture and enhance the livelihoods of farmers in the region by promoting the use of digital tools and proactive pest management approaches.
