Shopian: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar on Wednesday chaired the public outreach programme under weekly Block Diwas initiative of government at Ramnagri, where he listened to public concerns, demands and grievances while interacting with the local community.
At the outset, BDO Ramnagri apprised the gathering about the ongoing developmental works under District Capex and MGNREGA in the block consisting of 8 panchayathalqas.
The public belonging to Ramnagri, Sedow, Saidpora and other panchayathalqas flagged-off various development issues pertaining to restoration of irrigation canals, water supply, road maintenance, education, healthcare, power supply and other issues before the DDC.
The local public also apprised the DDC of various other requirements including soil testing, selection of sheep units, development of playfield, distribution of seeds, crop insurance, upgradation of healthcare at PHC Sedow and NTPHC, Ramnagri, opening of bank branch, etc.
The officers on the spot responded to some of the grievances and noted public demands for further action on them.
The DDC instructed the officers to plan for the public development demands as highlighted and take up feasible and appropriate action for meeting the public aspirations.
On the occasion, addressing the gathering, the DDC also emphasized the importance of joint efforts between the departments, civil society, and youth volunteers for keeping the village surroundings clean.
He also spoke at length on the raging menace of Drugs and the efforts being taken to tackle it. He sought positive and active support of local stakeholders in curbing the menace.
ADDC Shopian, Dr.Nasir Ahmad Lone; ACR, ACD, and other district/sectoral and block officers were present on the occasion along with frontline workers of departments and local public.
