DDC conducts visits to stadiums, playfields at Shopian & Chitragam, Takes stock of ongoing works

Shopian: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shopian, Mohammad ShahidSaleem Dar accompanied by ADDC, Dr. Nasir Ahmad Lone visited various villages to take stock of the ongoing construction and developmental works of sports infrastructure.
The DDC visited Indoor Stadium at Shopian, Football Stadium at Chitragam and Playfield at Pinjoora and enquired about the ongoing construction works.
The concerned apprised the DDC about the status of works of these projects being developed by J&K Sports Council and RDD Shopian.
The issue of slow funding at Indoor Stadium Shopian came up for scrutiny. On the occasion, DDC took up the funding issue with the Secretary Sports Council to facilitate the smooth execution of the project wherein she intimated that the stadium will be completed during the current fiscal with 1.5 Cr funding.
At Chitragam, the DDC took note of the slow work progress of the football stadium and directed to speed up the work and complete it within the timeline.
At Pinjora, work for development and fencing of the playfield has been rendered out and shall be taken up during the ongoing year, the DDC was apprised by RDD and YSS officers.
To engage youth in productive activities and to further foster the culture in the district, a sports stadium will come up at Sedow. J&K Sports Council will develop the same next year over 40 Kanals of land recently identified for the purpose.
ACR, DIO, DYSSO, Tehsildar and other officers were also present on the occasion.
