CIK detains radical social media user

Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said that CIK after a specific inputs from the reliable sources has detained one Bhat Navidul Ali S/O Ali Mohd Bhat R/o Tazipora-Mohanpora of District Kulgam pursuing M.Sc in Lab Sciences for misusing Social Media for radical propaganda to instigate common people against the Government of India and also glamorise militancy in J&K, adding therein that the accused is in constant touch with some cyber/virtual entity involved in radicalising and motivating the youth to join militancy and militant ranks.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday Police said that the individual also consumes the radical content available on the internet. The statement further reads “It was also learnt that he is about to join militant ranks. Besides, a special team of CIK apprehended Bhat Navidul Ali for questioning. The parents and respectables of his neighbourhood have been called for counseling”.
Police in its statement appealed youth to refrain from engaging in such illegal activities and subsequently advised parents to keep a close watch on their wards so that their children do not fall in the trap of such enticements.
