6 gamblers arrested in Sopore, Stake money also seized: Police

Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested six gamblers in Sopore and also seized stake money and playing cards from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that on the specific inputs regarding gambling activities at Ladoora Rafiabad, a police party of Police Post Watergam headed by IC Police Post Watergam under the supervision of SDPO Rafiabad Aabid Rashid Mir and SHO Police Station Dangiwacha raided the specific spot following which gambler on seeing the police party tried to flee but were apprehended tactfully. Police in its statement further said that the said gamblers were identified as Ghulam Mohammad Shah S/o Ghulam Mohi-u-din Shah R/o Naidkhai Sumbal, Tariq Ahmad Dar S/o Abdul Gani Dar R/o Johama Baramulla, Sahil Altaf Shah S/o Mohammad Altaf Shah, Shahid Mohi-u-din Shah S/o Ghulam Mohi-u-din Shah, Suhail Javaid Shah S/o Javaid Ahmad Shah and Bilal Nazir Shah S/o Nazir Ahmad Shah, residents of Ladoora Rafiabad.
Stating that stake money of ₹5,200/- & playing cards were also seized from the possession of the said accused who were shifted to police station where they remain in custody, Police in its statement furthermore said that
cases under relevant sections of law were registered at Police Station Dangiwacha besides initiating further investigation.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police warned that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be strictly dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
