Jammu: Hitting out at BJP for ‘misleading’ people on the recent resolution which seeks special status for the protection of land, jobs, natural resources, and cultural identity, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma on Sunday said that land, jobs protections are more important for Jammu region.
Accusing BJP of misleading people on the issue of the recent resolution passed by the Assembly seeking special status, Sharma in a statement said that the BJP can go to any extent to befool people on the emotional issues, as there is no mention of Art 370, 35-A but BJP top leadership cried hoarse to mislead the nation against the Congress party in the wake of Maharashtra and Jharkhand elections.
Sharma said that Congress stands committed to fighting for restoration of full statehood with special status to safeguard land jobs, natural resources, and the cultural identity likewise available in Himachal Pradesh and over a dozen other states of the country including Northeastern states.
The present resolution also seeks restoration of special status which means full statehood and constitutional guarantees for land jobs, natural resources, and cultural identity of Jammu and Kashmir.BJP tried to create a wrong notion but people have been seeking these rights, said Sharma.
He added, “Jammu has suffered most in the last five years post abrogation of special status as our land, jobs, and resources are being taken over by outsiders very rapidly and our future generations will suffer.”
The Congress leader said that it is in the best interests of all that along with full statehood, the special constitutional guarantees on the pattern of Himachal Pradesh and northeastern states, worked out after a dialogue with the elected representatives of Jammu and Kashmir as demanded in the resolution.
The national Spokesperson of BJP Amit Malviya had rightly welcomed the resolution but later the BJP saw politics into it, to exploit emotional card for the sake of vote bank politics given assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand.
