Srinagar: Below is the timeline of the weeklong key public events and engagements of top public dignitaries within and outside Jammu & Kashmir witnessed this week:
1. CM Omar Abdullah’s Commitment to J&K’s Future: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, on the final day of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly session, emphasized his government’s focus on the needs and aspirations of the people. Reflecting on the past six and a half years since his last speech in the House, he highlighted the changes in the region and the challenges ahead. The Assembly adjourned sine die after passing the Motion of Thanks to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s address.
2. J&K Assembly Adjourned Sine Die, Motion of Thanks Passed: The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly was adjourned sine die on Friday after successfully passing the Motion of Thanks in response to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s address. The proceedings were marred by chaotic scenes starting from Wednesday, which disrupted the House’s functioning.
3. PM Modi Slams Congress-Led INDIA Bloc Over Art 370, Urges Unity: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday accused the Congress-led INDIA bloc of attempting to remove the Constitution from Jammu and Kashmir and emphasized that no power could restore Article 370. Speaking at his first rally in Maharashtra ahead of the November 20 assembly elections, Modi also criticized Congress for sowing divisions among castes and urged people to stay united. “Ek hai, toh safe hai,” he stated.
4. Appointment Of Medical Officers, CM Distributes Appointment Orders: Omar Abdullah distributed appointment orders to 325 newly selected Medical Officers at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre, acknowledging their crucial role in improving the region’s healthcare system.

6. Sajad Lone’s Objection On Text Of JKNC Resolution: Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference (JKPC) Chairman Sajad Lone criticized the JKNC’s resolution for its lack of commitment to the full restoration of Article 370 and Article 35A. Lone called the resolution “watered down” and “vague,” following his initial support.
7. Dy CM Surinder Choudhary’s Critical Remarks On BJP’s Track Record: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary accused the BJP of neglecting the development of Jammu, pointing to the absence of a strong opposition and the party’s failure to meet the region’s expectations.
8. 2 Village Defence Guards Killed In Kishtwar: Two Village Defence Guards, Nazir Ahmed and Kuldeep Kumar, were abducted and killed by militants in the Munzla Dhar forests of Kishtwar district. The duo had been shepherding sheep before being taken by the militants.
