Srinagar Police on Saturday said that it has arrested a drug peddler and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a specific checkpoint was established at Chawalgam Sangus Bypass by Police Party of Police Station Kulgam and during checking a suspect identified as Aqib Bashir Lone S/o Bashir Ahmad Loan R/o Vesbatpora after noticing the police party tried to flee from the spotbut was chased and apprehended tactfully, adding therein during search, 14 grams of Brown Sugar like contraband substances were recovered from his possession. Police in its statement further said that a case under FIR No. 164/2024 was registered at Police Station Kulgam besides initiating investigation.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
