4 drug peddlers arrested in B’la, Contraband substance also recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that it has arrested four drug peddlers in Baramulla and also recovered contraband substance from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party of Police Station Kunzer headed by SHO Police Station Kunzer at a checkpoint established at Kunzer intercepted two suspects identified as Jahangeer Ahmad Rather S/o Bashir Ahmad R/o Karhama & Rahil Rahman Ganie S/o Ab Rahman R/o Ratnipora Payeen and during search 40 grams of Charas like substances were recovered from their possession.
Stating that in a similar action a police party of Police Station Pattan headed by SHO Police Station Pattan at a checkpoint established at Zangam Crossing intercepted one Javid Ahmad Rather S/o Mohd Maqbool R/o Rambailgarh Mirgund Srinagar and during search, 188 grams of Cannabis Powder like substances were recovered from his possession.
Police in its statement also said that a police party of Police Post Kamalkote headed by IC Police Post Kamalkote at a checkpoint established at Sarie Bandi intercepted one Iqbal Hussain S/o Gulab Shah R/o Sari Bandi and during search, 3.7 Kgs of Cannabis Powder like substances were recovered from his possession.
Stating that all the said accused persons were arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody, Police in its statement further said that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at Police Station Kunzer, Police Station Pattan and Police Station Uri besides which investigation was also initiated.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
