Doda : District Malaria Unit under the Integrated Disease Surveillance Program (IDSP), in collaboration with the Municipal Council, has ramped up the fogging drive across Doda town to curb the mosquito breeding and spread of Dengue, addressing the district’s recent rise in cases.
District Epidemiologist Umar Anayat shared that the drive targets comprehensive coverage of all wards in Doda town as a preventive step to contain the spread of Dengue. He emphasized that the initiative is a proactive measure designed to safeguard residents and reduce potential health risks associated with mosquito-borne diseases.
Led by Farooq Ahmed, JHI, the team comprises dedicated field staff, including BHWs Liaqat Ali Zargar, Rajinder Parshad, Jaswant Singh and Ranjeet Kumar, along with support from the MC Doda staff. The team has started fogging in select wards on the first day and will extend the operations to other areas in the coming days.
In addition to the fogging drive, the team is conducting public awareness sessions on Dengue prevention. Residents are advised to eliminate stagnant water sources in and around their homes by regularly emptying coolers, pots, and other containers. The team also encourages the community to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings to minimize mosquito breeding grounds.
