Srinagar : Police on Friday said that in a major breakthrough against the drug menace it has attached a single-storied residential house in Anantnag which values ₹70 lakhs and belongs to a drug peddler, Rafiq Ahmad Sheikh S/o Gh. Rasool Sheikh, R/o Gopalpora Kalan. Police also said that the action was taken under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, as part of the ongoing anti-narcotics drive in the district.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said the property attachment is linked to FIR No. 86/2023, registered under sections 8/20/29 of the NDPS Act, following the investigations that established its use in drug trafficking activities, adding therein that further investigations are underway to trace other associates linked to the accused.
Stating that the arrested drug peddler Rafiq Ahmad Sheikh is a habitual offender with a history of involvement in multiple narcotics cases, Police reiterated its commitment to dismantle drug networks and stringent actions against those involved in such crimes with full force of the law. In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police reiterated its commitment to combat drug abuse and trafficking.
