Ganderbal : Department of Botany, Central University Of Kashhmir, on Thursday organized a two-day student induction program for the newly admitted M.Sc Botany students to orient and prepare them for academic and campus life.
In his lecture, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Masoodi, Deptt of Food Science and Technology, University of Kashmir, spoke on “Time and Tides Wait for None,” inspiring students with reflections on the value of time and commitment to excellence. He commended the students for their achievements in qualifying for the CUET examination, encouraged them to uphold the university’s values, and urged active participation in both academic and extracurricular activities.
Prof. Azra N. Kamli, Head of the Deptt, welcomed the guest speaker, dignitaries, staff, and students, underscoring the importance of the induction programme in facilitating students’ adaptation to the university environment and fostering mentor-mentee relationships. Prof. Mohammad Yousuf, Dean, School of Physical and Chemical Sciences and Head Department of Zoology, highlighted the library’s role in fostering a robust academic culture. He cautioned the students against ragging, emphasizing its adverse impact on students’ mental health. The students also toured the Central Library at Green Campus, where Assistant Librarian Dr. Tariq Ahmad Shah introduced them to the library’s resources. They visited the Tulmullah campus, where they explored the Department of Convergent Journalism (DCJ) and received insights into journalism and filmmaking from Dr.
