Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested eight suspects for being involved in illegal mining & transportation of minerals in Baramulla and also 8 vehicles from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party under the supervision of SDPO Kreeri, seized 8 vehicles (8 Tippers) & arrested their drivers. Police in its statement further said that drivers arrested by it have been identified as Abid Ahmad Gojree S/o Ab Rehman, Aqib Ahmad Gojree S/o Gh Mohd, Javid Ahmad Malik S/o Nazir Ahmad, Mohammad Afzal Lone S/o Manzoor Ahmad, Abdul Hameed Dar S/o Bashir Ahmad, Ghulam Qadir Dar S/o Bashir Ahmad, all residents of Drangbal, Tanveer Ahmad Dar S/o Gh Mohd & Javid Ahmad Dar S/o Bashir Ahmad, both residents of Jalsheeri involved in illegal extraction/ transportation of minerals at Chak Tapper, Faqirbagh & Pachar.
Stating that the police accordingly registered the cases under relevant sections of law in Police Sation Kreeri and Police Station Chandoosa besides initiating investigations, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed local populations to to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
