19th Foundation Day Celebrations begin at IUST

Awantipora : Week-long celebration on the eve of 19th Foundation Day, commence at IUST with a series of programmes curated to reach out to different stakeholders for greater synergy in efforts towards nurturing the youth and guiding them in innovation, entrepreneurship, research and offering them alternatives to compelled aspirations as far as academic choices are concerned etc.
According to a statement issued from Public Relations Office IUST here, among the major attractions were Food Fest, Book Fest, Cultural fest, Open Day, and Art Exhibition which were attended by hundreds of visitors. The Food Festival organized by the Department of Food Technology and coordinated by Dr Tariq Ahmad Ganie and his team presented an opportunity for attendees to experience and relish a range of cuisines besides interacting and gaining insights about the food sector from the entrepreneurs. On the eve of Open Day over 3000 students from across the valley visited different departments, labs, witnessed demonstrations and interacted with faculty. The open day has been a regular feature at IUST wherein the students from colleges and schools visit IUST and explore their interests and learn about new programmes and take career decisions.
Art exhibition organized under the aegis of IUST’s Wastoorwan Art Gallery showcasing artworks of celebrated local artists Mr Arshad Sauleh and Dr. Jehnagir Aslam was inaugurated by Mr Mehmood Ahmad Shah in presence of Prof A. H. Moon, Prof A Wahid, Mr Sameer Wazeer and others. The Exhibition was coordinated by Dr Ruheela Hassan and Dr Umar Farooq. Book Fest organized by Rumi Library and coordinated by Prof Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, Librarian and Dr Sheikh Shoab was another event thronged by students and faculty. Many vendors and publishers participating had displayed thousands of titles across disciplines and genres for students, scholars, faculty and book lovers.
Further, in the week ahead a series of programmes including Literary Festival, Business Exhibition, Tech Fest, Industry Academia Conclave, workshop on “The Role of Higher Education Institutions in Viksit Bharat @2047 “among others are being organized.
