Shopian: In an effort to curb health related ailments occurring due to contaminated surroundings and put check on environmental pollution, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar on Tuesday issued a public notice, banning the irresponsible disposal of waste/ litter by shopkeepers and business establishments.
The official notice issued here reads that it was observed shopkeepers have been contributing to severe health and environmental hazards by disposing-off garbage and polluting water bodies along roadsides, public spaces and connecting roads.
The advisory is in line with adherence to the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016, and the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2019 and the rulings of the National Green Tribunal. All shopkeepers and business establishments have been advised to place two dustbins in front of their premises for the organized collection and segregation of waste for proper disposal.
