Srinagar: Police on Tuesday arrested three drug peddlers in Baramulla and Kulgam and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Baramulla headed by SHO Police Station Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Eco Park Baramulla, intercepted a suspect identified as Roshan Ahmad Awan S/o Mohd Ahmad Awan R/o Paranpeelan Uri and during search recovered 65 grams of contraband charas like substance from the possession of the said accused following which he was arrested and shifted to Police Station Baramulla where he remains in custody.
Stating that in a similar action in Kulgam, a police party headed by SHO Police Station Qaimoh at a checkpoint established at Khudwani Byepass (NHW-44) intercepted two suspects identified as Mohd Imran Bhat S/o Tariq Ahmad Bhat and Mohd Nawaz Lohar S/o Ghulam Nabi Lohar, both residents of Mohar, Reasi and during search recovered 30 grams of charas and 600 grams of grinded cannabis like contraband substances from the possession of the accused who were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Police in its statement further said that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respectively Police Stations and besides initiating further investigations, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society.
