DC B’pora chairs meeting on Revision of Panchayat Electoral Roll

Bandipora : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri, who is also District Panchayat Election Officer (DPEO) on Monday chaired a meeting at the Mini Secretariat here to discuss the Revision of the Panchayat Electoral Roll.
The meeting discussed threadbare various measures regarding the Revision of Panchayat Electoral Roll with reference to 01-01-2025 as qualifying date.
The meeting discussed in detail, revised revision schedule including publication of Draft Panchayat Electoral Roll, Period of filing claims and objections, publication of final Panchayat Electoral Roll and other related activities.
Emphasising the importance of accessibility, the DC directed the BDOs to organize special camps at polling booth locations as per the State Election Commission’s guidelines and notified schedule to facilitate easy access for the public and ensure the accuracy of the electoral roll.
He urged Sub-divisional Magistrates (SDMs) to closely monitor activities related to the electoral roll revision.
Additionally, Block Development Officers (BDOs) were instructed to conduct Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) activities in their blocks to raise awareness about the revision process besides submit an updated list of Panchayat Election Booth Officials (PEBOs) to ensure adequate number of PEBOs.
The meeting was attended by ADC Zaffar Hussain Shawl, ACR, Dy. DEO, SDM Sumbal, SDM Gurez, District Information Officer, BDOs, and other concerned officials.
