Wayanad: Congress General Secretary and UDF Candidate for the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-poll Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Sunday promised to improve the infrastructure of Wayanad and address the problem of man-animal conflict in the region.

Addressing a public meeting at Manathavady Gandhi Park in phase two of her election campaign, Priyanka said she would continue her brother and former MP Rahul Gandhi’s efforts to improve the infrastructure in Wayanad.

The election campaign meeting was organised by Congress led United Democratic Front.

Priyanka was accompanied by her Gandhi, current Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and former Wayanad MP.

Priyanja said Gandhi fought hard to improve the health facilities and employment opportunities for the youth. She promised to carry on Gandhi’s struggle to improve the infrastructure including laying new roads and address the problems of unemployment and human-animal conflict in the region.

Priyanka criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleging that the BJP government was working only for the big business and rich people and not for the common people and failed to provide better health services and create job opportunities.

The Narendra Modi led government’s only duty is to divide the people, spreading anger and hatred among them. She said Rahul Gandhi raised these issues in parliament, but these were not addressed by the Central government.

AICC leaders K C Venugopal, Deepa Dasmunshi, KPCC president K Sudhakaran and UDF supporters gave a grand reception to Gandhi siblings when they arrived at Marymatha school ground at Manathavadi in separate helicopters.

Addressing the rally, Gandhi said if elected, she would be the best possible MP for the people of Wayanad.

“I am confidently saying that Wayanad people could not get a better person as an MP than my sister. I am lucky to have her as my sister, now you are also lucky. She will be a sister to all the people of Wayanad”.

He said Priyanka can perform better than him and address the issues of the people of Wayanad in the coming days “.

The former Congress president said, “Priyanka Gandhi showed a list of issues to be focused on for the development and strengthening of the future of Wayanad. It included setting up food processing and storage units, development of tourism, and infrastructures. She has already started working for achieving her goals”.

Attacking the BJP, Gandhi said now “We see everywhere a fight between love and hatred, between humanity and arrogance. So we are fighting to remove hatred and develop humanity in the hearts of the people.”

Gandhi said “Wayanad is the only constituency in the country to have two MPs , one official and another unofficial, I am always there at the service for the people of the constituency any time “. UNI
