Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested five drug peddlers in North Kashmir’s Handwara and Baramulla district and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a team of Handwara Police led by SHO Kralgund at a checkpoint established at Ananwan Crossing Kralgund, apprehended three suspects identified as Irshad Ahmad GaziS/o Gh Rasool Gazi R/o Kralpora Kralgund, Sajad Ahmad Rather S/o Mohd Subhan Rather R/o Kralpora Kralgund and Syed Anwar GeelaniS/o Syed Sharief-ud-din Geelani R/oTangwari Kunnel and also recovered105 grams of Charas during searches from their possession.
Stating that a Police party of Police Station Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Delina Ghat, intercepted a vehicle (i10) bearing registration no DL11CA-5236 with two suspects identified as Sajad Ahmad Magray S/o Ghulam Mohd R/o Janbazpora and Imtiyaz Hussain Khandwah S/o Gh Hassan R/o Bagh-e-Rehmat on board, Police in its statement further said that during search, 25 grams of Brown Sugar was recovered from the possession of all the said accused who were arrested and shifted to respective police stations, adding therein that the vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized. Police in its statement furthermore said that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective police stations besides initiating further investigation.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and also warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law.
