Theft case solved in G’bal, 6 accused arrested, Stolen property worth lacs recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police in Ganderbal solved a theft case by arresting 6 accused persons involved in the commission of crime and recovered stolen property worth lacs from their possession here on Tuesday.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that on 18th August this year a written compliant was received by Police Station Kangan from one Mohammad Younis Jungle S/o Mohammad Mitha R/o Kalakoot Rajuri A/P Badipathri Behek Naranag regarding theft of his Livestock (Sheep/Goats) at Badipathri Behek Naranag, adding therein that on receiving the compliant, a case under FIR No. 68/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Kangan besides which investigation was set into motion. Stating that on receiving the input a special team was constituted under the supervision of SDPO Kangan Mohammad Ashraf headed by SHO Police Station Kangan , Police in its statement further said after strenuous efforts and with the help of technical inputs, the Police team recovered 30 stolen (Sheep/Goats) worth lacs from the upper reaches of Gutlibagh Forests, adding therein that one person was also apprehended in the instant case who disclosed his identity as Showkat Ahmad Bhat S/o Abdul Ahad R/o Wurpash Ganderbal.
Police in its statement further said that during investigation, the said accused confessed his involvement in the commission of crime along with five others namely Shafeeq Ahmad Khan S/o Mumtaz Ahmad R/o Wurpash Ganderbal, Tariq Ahmad Khan S/o Farooq Ahmad R/o Wurpash Ganderbal, Irfan Ahmad Kataria S/o Farooq Ahmad R/o Chatergull BalaKangan, Mohammad Reyaz Baniya S/o Beena Amin R/o Rajori A/P Chatergull Bala Kangan and Irshad Ahmad Raina S/o Abdul Khaliq R/o Gund Ari Kangan who were later arrested & and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Stating that two vehicles bearing Regd. Nos JK05G-1602 and JK16C-1118 used in the commission of the crime were also seized, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to co-operate with it and share inputs about the activities of burglars in future also.
