A living symbol of Kashmir and the guiding light of its people, Nund Reshi (RA) continues to exert enormous influence on the socio, cultural and religious beliefs of the people of Kashmir. His thoughts have moulded the minds of generations for more than six centuries, establishing a culture of utmost religious toleration, brotherhood, compassion with an abiding faith in the omnipresence of God and profound love for the Holy Messenger of Islam (SAW). The Urs we are observing today has long been resuscitating our unique cultural and political identity, it will continue to do so in the times to come. His articulacy has undoubtedly enriched our language with wise and succinct sayings that have become proverbial. His teaching reflecting syncretism, brotherhood, compassion, and unity of mankind led him to be equally revered across religions. Till date, his shrine in Charar-e-Sharief is thronged with devotees from diverse backgrounds. I pay my earnest tributes to him on the auspicious annual Urs observance.”
