The recent spate of attacks, including the one at Gagangir Ganderbal and another at Botapathri Gulmarg in Baramulla district are directly concerning the tourism activities and livelihoods of the workers engaged in the construction of infrastructural project in both Kashmir Valley and as well as Jammu division. The rise in militant attacks could obviously reduce the frequency of rise in tourist footfall and put under strain the local business of the people in both Kashmir Valley and as well as Jammu division .While the frequency of attacks is in itself an indication about the rise in militancy related incidents, the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha at the recently held meeting of the Unified Headquarters has directed the security agencies to further tighten the security at the sites of the infrastructural projects the work on which is presently in progress. The Lt Governor’s direction over security on the sites of infrastructural projects shows his concern for the completion of ongoing developmental projects in given timelines despite recent surge in militant attacks in Kashmir Valley. Directing a security audit of the infrastructural project the Lt Government has left no security issued unattended for stabilising the security system for hassle free construction of infrastructural projects and smooth operation of tourist activities across Jammu & Kashmir.”
Security review meets twice a month by the Lt Governor could obviously further reduce the rising frequency of the militant attacks and consequently the vulnerability of the workers to militant attacks at the sites of the infrastructural projects. So an interface between the security agencies and the civilian administration could further the causes of both the stable security and as well as hassle free development in both Kashmir Valley and as well as Jammu division.
