2 drug peddlers arrested in G’bal & Kulgam, Contraband substances recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Ganderbal and Kulgam and also recovered psychotropic/contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that the Police Station Ganderbal received inputs through reliable sources about one Mohd Rafiq Shah S/o Mohd Shafi Shah R/o Rakh Harran having concealed some contraband/psychotropic substances in his residential house with an intention to sell it to the local youth of the area.
Stating that while acting swiftly, a special police team led by SHO Ganderbal conducted a search along with Executive Magistrate 1st Class and recovered141 Bottles of Codeine like Psychotropic substance were recovered and seized from the premises of the said house, Police in its statement further said that the said accused was arrested on the spot.
Police in its statement further said that in a similar action a police team from Police Station Qaimoh set up a checkpoint at Khudwani Byepass and intercepted a vehicle (Truck) bearing registration no JK03F-4926 for checking following which 4 Kgs of Poppy Straw like substance were recovered from the tool box of the said vehicle and the accused driver identified as John Mohd Mandoo S/o Ghulam Rasool Mandoo R/o Redwani Payeen was subsequently arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody besides which vehicle used in the commission of the crime was also seized.
Stating that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective police stations besides initiating investigations, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
