Kishtwar: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kishtwar, Rajesh Kumar Shavan on Saturday visited Model PanchayatLachdayaram A to preside over an awareness program and review progress on key developmental projects in the panchayat.
The visits by district officers and those down the line to the 13 designated Model Panchayats of the district have been made a regular feature to achieve saturation of 78 key indicators in these model Panchayats.
During the awareness camp, the DC emphasized the implementation of government schemes, such as PradhanMantriAwasYojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin (SBM-G), Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), health initiatives, and social programs aimed at the welfare and progress of local communities.
The DC assessed the status of these schemes in the Panchayat and highlighted the importance of developing green spaces by launching massive plantation drives on degraded land to enrich the environment.
Later, the DC inspected ongoing development works, instructing timely completion with quality assurance. He interacted with the Village Monitoring Committee, local residents, and ex-PRI members, focusing on saturating all indicators, addressing community concerns, and offering immediate solutions. He also urged the Village Monitoring Committee to actively collaborate with departments to address gaps in Panchayat development.
Special attention was given to cleanliness initiatives, polythene-free campaigns, door-to-door waste collection, and the NashaMukhtAbhiyan.
In response to local health needs, the concerned departments were directed to organize a medical camp to provide free checkups and medications to the local residents.
The DC took serious note of the failure of some district officers who failed to visit their designated panchayats so far, emphasizing that negligence in duties will lead to strict actions.
Among the participants were Mohd Ashraf Wani AD, E&S ;Block Development Officer (BDO) KishtwarSanjeevKotwal (also the Block Nodal Officer for Model PanchayatLachdayaram A); Panchayat Secretary, Panchayat Nodal officials, and other members from the Rural Development Department.
