Srinagar, Oct 25: A soldier injured in last night’s militant attack in the Butapathri area of Gulmarg died today, taking the death toll to five, officials said.

Two army soldiers and two porters died while another porter and a soldier were injured after militants attacked an army vehicle in the Botapathri area of Gulmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla on Thursday night.

An injured soldier succumbed at a health facility today, reported news agency KDC.

The officials said that army vehicle was heading for the Nagin post in the Afrawat range.

Security measures in the area have been intensified, with investigations ongoing to nab those responsible for the attack.

Reports said that the army has pressed helicopters and drones into service to nab the attackers.

Thursday’s attack in the area came just days after militants attacked a construction site in the Gagangeer area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal. Six workers and a doctor were killed in the attack, which was condemning by politicians, including J&k CM Omar Abdullah.
