IIT Jammu crushes competition at Jammu’s biggest sports spectacle

Jammu : IIT Jammu proves its meticulous athletic endeavor in the biggest sports occurrence of Jammu & Kashmir. Convoquer 2024. The largest athletic competition embarked on its marvelous journey on October 18th with breathtaking performances by students showcasing true sportsmanship and dedication.
The participating institutes accompanying IIT Jammu in making Convoquer 2024 a grand success are Jammu University, IIM Jammu, SMVDU Katra, AIIMS Jammu, GMC Jammu, GAMC Jammu, ASCOMS Jammu, MIET Jammu, Central University, GCET Jammu.
The enthusiasm of the fest felt truly mesmerizing to both the participants and their supportive peers. In a thrilling display of athleticism and competitive spirit, IIT Jammu emerged as the overall winner of Jammu’s biggest sports fest, proving its dominance across multiple disciplines. While the competition was fierce, and teams from across the region performed spectacularly, IIT Jammu’s athletes delivered electrifying performances that secured their place as the ultimate champions.
IIT Jammu’s triumph was particularly notable in basketball (men’s), where the team outplayed the competition with precision and passion, clinching a well-deserved victory. The success continued in chess and weightlifting, where the IIT teams outclassed their rivals. In weightlifting, IIT Jammu swept all categories, with standout athlete Vishal Kumar earning special recognition for his record-breaking lifts. The team also secured a stunning win in table tennis (men’s), while placing third in table tennis (women’s).
The finals of the volleyball competition between IIT Jammu and Jammu University were nothing short of enticing, as the crowd’s energy reached fever pitch. The match saw neck-and-neck competition with each team pushing the other to its limits, but despite IIT Jammu’s valiant effort, Jammu University ultimately claimed the victory. However, IIT Jammu’s fighting spirit and the unwavering support from the crowd made this contest one of the most talked-about moments of the fest.
Jammu University also celebrated wins in football, cricket, badminton, volleyball (men’s and women’s), and basketball (women’s), showcasing its strength across several sports. In cricket, although Jammu University took home the title, IIT Jammu put on a fantastic performance in the finals, keeping fans on the edge of their seats. The cricket tournament garnered significant attention, with over 19,000 views on the CricHeroes app, adding to the excitement of the event.
In the end, despite remarkable performances from other institutions, it was IIT Jammu that truly stole the show, storming to victory and lifting the coveted overall championship trophy. With a relentless drive, unmatched consistency, and sheer athletic brilliance across a range of sports, IIT Jammu proved their mettle and left no doubt who the true champions were. Their all-around dominance electrified the entire fest, making this year’s victory not just a win, but a statement. IIT Jammu didn’t just compete—they conquered!
On October 22nd, the fest came to a ceremonial end honoring the winners for their spectacular and enticing performances in their respective arenas. Dr. Manoj Singh Gaur, Director of IIT Jammu congratulated the champions and bestowed upon them his indispensable insights. The event proved to be a humongous success with its peak athleticism and immense diligence of the organizing team, faculty, coaches and all the heroes behind the curtain. With such an electrifying energy and sporty spirit, this is just the beginning! The momentum of Convoquer ‘24 is unstoppable and more such events shall be organized in the near future, where the legends will rise and competition will soar to even greater heights!
