Jammu: National Police Day, popularly known as Police Commemoration Day, was observed with solemnity across the Jammu Province.
The day is observed in commemoration of the ten valiant martyrs of the CRPF who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty on October 21, 1959. They laid down their lives in an ambush laid by heavily armed Chinese troops at Hot Springs, Ladakh, at an altitude of 4681 meters.

He also prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls and extended his heartfelt wishes for the welfare and prosperity of their families.
Anand Jain paid rich tributes to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the unity and integrity of the nation over the past year. Following the ceremony, ADGP Jammu Zone interacted with the next of kin (NOK) of the martyrs, listening attentively to their grievances and assuring them of full support and timely action on the requests they submitted.
Earlier, all Jammu-based GOs assembled at the Police Martyrs Memorial at the Railway Station, where floral tributes were paid to the martyrs. A blood donation camp was also organized at Police hospital Jammu in collaboration with GMC Jammu, in which some senior police officers and other volunteers donated 80 units of blood.
