A Fest of Champions: IIT Jammu celebrates success of Convoquer 2024

Jammu : The Indian Institute of Jammu proudly hosted the Convoquer Sports Meet welcoming participants from 11 different universities and colleges across the region ready to compete with a never-seen-before athletic spirit and enthusiasm. The event, held on the college grounds, featured a diverse range of competitions including Football, Athletics, Basketball, Badminton, Chess, Cricket, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Pool, Weight Lifting and eSports.
The sports fest was from October 17th to October 21. The universities and colleges joining IIT Jammu in this awesome athletic endeavor were IIT Jammu, Jammu University, IIM Jammu, SMVDU Katra, AIIMS Jammu, GMC Jammu, GAMC Jammu, ASCOMS Jammu, MIET Jammu, Central University, GCET Jammu
The event kicked off with a vibrant opening ceremony attended by students, faculty and local dignitaries. The stage was enticed with the marvelous melodies performed by the music club of IIT Jammu; Malang. Dr. Manoj Singh Gaur, Director of IIT Jammu, delivered an inspiring address, highlighting the importance of sports in the vicissitudes of student life. Dr. Gaur also expressed immense gratitude to the organizing committee, volunteers and participants for their invaluable diligence and enthusiasm.
Participants and spectators alike expressed their palpable excitement for the event. Students shared their experience on social media, posting vibrant photos and highlights from the day. Feedback gathered post-event revealed a widespread appreciation for the meticulous organization and seamless execution, with many attendees advocating for similar gatherings in the future.
The Convoquer Sports Event at IIT Jammu was not only a celebration of athletic talent but also a demonstration of community spirit and collaboration among educational institutions. The success of this year’s event sets a promising foundation for future inter-college sports collaborations.
As the event concluded, participants left with not just medals and trophies but also memories of friendships forged and experiences shared. IIT Jammu looks forward to hosting more events that promote health, teamwork and the overall development of students.
