PCCF J&K reviews functioning of Soil Conservation Deptt

Srinagar : The Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) J&K, B.K. Singh on Saturday conducted a comprehensive review of the Soil and Water Conservation Department, focusing on its operational effectiveness and strategic direction.
This pivotal meeting aimed to assess current initiatives and discuss the capital expenditure (capex) budget for upcoming projects essential for sustainable land management.
During the review, the PCCF emphasized the critical role of soil conservation in maintaining ecological balance and enhancing agricultural productivity. “Our commitment to preserving our natural resources is unwavering. The Soil and Water Conservation Department plays a vital role in implementing practices that protect our soil health and ensure water sustainability,” stated the PCCF.
The discussions highlighted several key initiatives, including the integration of innovative techniques in soil conservation, the importance of community engagement, and the need for robust funding to support ongoing and future projects. The PCCF further remarked, “Investing in soil and water conservation is not just an environmental necessity; it is an investment in our future. We must ensure that we allocate sufficient resources to enhance the department’s capacity and outreach.”
As part of the capex budget deliberations, the PCCF explored various funding avenues to enhance infrastructure and technology deployment within the department. “A well-planned budget is crucial for achieving our long-term goals. It is imperative that we prioritize projects that yield significant benefits for our environment and communities,” the PCCF added.
The review meeting was attended by M.K. Kumar, Joint Director S&WC Department Jammu, Mohammad ArifPadder, Planning Officer, other senior officers of the Department and District Soil Conservation Officers of J&K.
