Srinagar : In accordance with the 2024 calendar of the J&K Legal Services Authority, all the District Legal Services Authorities of Kashmir division on Saturday organized LokAdalats at their respective District Court Complexes and other subordinate Courts for amicable resolution of MACT (Motor Accident Claims Tribunal) and matrimonial cases.
The said LokAdalat was held under the direction of Justice TashiRabstan, Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh and Patron-in-Chief, J&K Legal Services Authority. This event aimed to provide speedy justice and alleviate the backlog of pending MACT and Matrimonial Cases across Kashmir.
In Anantnag, a Special LokAdalat for MACT and Matrimonial Cases was held today at District Court Complex Anantnag.Justice VinodChatterjiKoul, Judge High Court of J&K and Ladakh (Administrative Judge, Anantnag) inaugurated Special LokAdalat for MACT and Matrimonial cases at District Court Complex Anantnag.On his arrival, the Judge was formally welcomed by TahirKhurshidRaina, Pr. District & Sessions Judge Anantnag, Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag, Sr. Superintendent of Police Anantnag, Additional District & Sessions Judge, Anantnag, Ld. Judicial Officers of Anantnag, Secretary DLSA, President Bar Association Anantnag, other Bar Members and staff of District Court Anantnag.In the LokAdalat, Justice Koul distributed the compensation cheques to claimants whose cases got settled in the LokAdalat.A total of 11 MACT cases were taken up and 06 MACT cases were settled on spot in which a sum of Rs. 85,40,000 was awarded as compensation.After participation in the Special LokAdalat, the Administrative Judge interacted with members of Bar and Judicial Officers physically and virtually for action plan and speedy disposal of cases pending for more than 05 years in the courts.The Judge was informed by the Deputy Commissioner Anantnag and Executive Engineer Anantnag of the progress of the new court complex and the preparation of laying foundation stone thereof very soonThereafter, the Judge gave standing instructions to Deputy Commissioner for facilitating comfortable residential accommodation of judges posted at District Headquarter and also expressed the requirement of better infrastructure for facilitating convenience and strain free adjudication of cases and administration of justiceThe Judge then inspected the court rooms of District Court Complex Anantnag physically and interacted with presiding Officers in their court rooms. In the said LokAdalat, a total of 121 cases were taken up in different benches constituted and 79 cases were settled by amicable means.
The LokAdalat was conducted under the overall supervision of Chairman DLSA with participation of Secretary DLSA, Staff, LADCs and PLVs of DLSA Anantnag.
In Srinagar, the LokAdalat was organized by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Srinagar, at the District Court Complex Mominabad, Srinagar.
The LokAdalat was held under the supervision of JafferHussain Beg, Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority (Principal District & Sessions Judge) Srinagar, and under the guidance of Nusrat Ali Hakak, Sub-judge/ Secretary DLSA Srinagar.
To facilitate the amicable settlement of cases, 04 benches were constituted for the said LokAdalat. Overall 152 cases were taken up for settlement, out of which 71 cases were amicably settled and Rs. 65,91,000 was awarded as settlement amount in MACT & Matrimonial Cases.
In Budgam, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Budgam organized a LokAdalat on MACT and Matrimonial Cases in the District Court Complex, here. The said LokAdalat was organized under the chairmanship of OM Prakesh Bhagat, Chairman DLSA (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) Budgam and under the guidance of Secretary DLSA Budgam, Nusrat Ali Hakak. Each Court had identified cases for the said LokAdalat before hand and same were placed before Four (04) different benches constituted by DLSA Budgam for their amicable settlement. A total number of 44 MACT and Matrimonial cases were taken up for amicable settlement, out of which 12 cases were settled. In Ganderbal, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal conducted Lok-Adalat on MACT and Matrimonial Cases today in the District. The Lok-Adalat was held under the supervision and chairmanship of Abdul Nasir, Chairman DLSA (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) Ganderbal, and under the guidance of Tabassum, incharge Secretary DLSA (Chief Judicial Magistrate), Ganderbal. The Lok-Adalat was constituted of two benches for the amicable settlement of cases, wherein overall 100 cases were taken up for settlement out of which 59 cases were settled and an amount of Rs. 15,61,900 was awarded as settlement amount.
In Pulwama, Lok-Adalat for Mact and Matrimonial cases was organized in District Court and other subordinate courts under the Chairmanship of NaseerAhmad Dar, Chairman District Legal Services Authority (Pr. District & Sessions Judge), Pulwama and under the supervision of MudasarFarooq, Secretary DLSA Pulwama.
By the concerted efforts of all presiding officers of all the courts, cooperation rendered by the learned advocates a total number of 84 cases were taken up by 04 benches in the district, out of which 47 cases were amicably settled in the said Lok-Adalat. An amount of Rs. 6,91,000 was awarded as settlement amount in all cases including one Mact Case.
In Kulgam, LokAdalat was held in District Court Kulgam, under the chairmanship of Aijaz Ahmed Khan, PDJ (Chairman District Legal Services Authority) Kulgam. For amicable settlement of MACT and matrimonial cases referred to the LokAdalat, four benches were constituted, two at Headquarter and one each at D.H.Pora and Qazigund.
In the said LokAdalat a total number of 48 cases were taken up. Out of which 09 Cases including 02 MACT cases were amicably settled. An amount of Rs.49,00,000 was awarded in 02 MACT cases.
In Shopian, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Shopian under the aegis of Legal Services Authority J&K today organized a Special LokAdalat on MACT and Matrimonial Cases under the Chairmanship of Mehmood Ahmad Chowdhary, Chairman DLSA (Principal District & Session Judge) Shopian at District Court Complex Shopian.
For the said LokAdalat 02 Benches were constituted by the DLSA.
The said benches took up 34 Cases related to Civil Cases, MACT Cases, Matrimonial Cases, out of which 05 Cases were settled amicably with a settlement amount Rs.11,04,000.
In Kupwara, the District Legal Services Authority, Kupwara organized LokAdalat on MACT and Matrimonial Cases, across District Kupwara today. The said LokAdalat was held under the supervision of ShaziaTabasum, Chairperson, DLSA, (Pr. District & Session Judge) Kupwara and guidance of Moneer Ahmad, Secretary DLSA Kupwara.
Four (04) Benches were constituted for the said LokAdalat. A total of 29 cases were taken up by all the benches, of which 17 cases were disposed off as settled on spot by intervention of the benches and by participation of the lawyers and litigants. An amount of RS 33,32,418 was awarded in the said special lokadalat.
In Bandipora, LokAdalat on Mact& Matrimonial Cases was held under the supervision of Chairman DLSA, (Pr. District & Session Judge) Bandipora, Khalil Ahmad Choudhary and guidance of Iqbal Ahmad Akhoon Secretary DLSA, Bandipora.
A total of three (03) Benches were constituted for the said LokAdalat that took up a total of 53 Cases for settlement, out of which 15 Cases were settled as disposed. A total sum of 3,00,000 was awarded to the aggrieved parties by settlement during the said LokAdalat.
