Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha strongly condemned the brutal killing of a local vendor, Ashok Chauhan, in Shopian district by militants.
In a tweet, LG Sinha expressed his outrage over the attack, calling it an act of cowardice and extended his solidarity to the bereaved family.
“I strongly condemn the brutal killing of a vendor, Ashok Chauhan, in Shopian by cowardly Militants. The entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with his family. Our security forces are determined to hunt down the culprits and bring them to justice,” the Lieutenant Governor wrote.
Expressing his heartfelt condolences, LG Sinha added, “My thoughts are with his family members and friends in this time of grief. I have directed the Jammu Kashmir Police and District Administration to extend all the support.”
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday condemned the murder of a non-local labourer found dead in Shopian district, urging that such attacks be condemned in the strongest possible terms. On Saturday, the body of a migrant worker from Bihar, identified as Ashok Chauhan, was found with bullet wounds in the Wachi area of Zainapora in South Kashmir’s Shopian district. Chauhan had been living in the Sangam area of Anantnag.
“Very sorry to hear about the death of Ashok Chouhan at the hands of militants in South Kashmir. These attacks are abhorrent & must be condemned in the strongest possible terms. I send my condolences to the family & loved ones of the deceased,” Abdullah said on X.
