Tehran: Any Israeli attack against Iran would mean crossing a red line that would trigger a symmetric response, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Saturday.
“Any attack on Iran means crossing a red line for us. We will not leave such an attack unanswered. The necessary response will be given to any attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities or any similar attack. Israel will receive a symmetric response to any attack on Iran,” Araghchi told Turkish broadcaster
NTV.
During Iran’s latest response to Israel, 90% of missiles reached their targets, the top Iranian diplomat added.
“We did not strike any economic or civilian facilities at the time. We only targeted military facilities. Now, we have identified all our targets in Israel. If Israel attacks, we will launch a similar attack on their targets,” Araghchi said.
When asked about why Israel still has not responded to the previous attack by Iran, the minister cited the immense diplomatic pressure the entire world was putting on Israel.
“A full-scale war is highly likely to break out in the region … Countries are making significant diplomatic efforts at the regional and international levels. I believe that diplomacy must be used to stop Israeli attacks and declare a ceasefire to prevent a large-scale disaster in the region. Only then can we talk about the well-being of the residents of the Gaza Strip and Lebanon,” Araghchi said.
On October 1, Iran launched 180 ballistic missiles toward Israel in response to the killings of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah, Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh, and senior Iranian commander Abbas Nilforoushan. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said that his government was not seeking a war with Israel but would confront any threat in a resolute manner.
Israel vowed to respond to the attack at a time and in a manner of its choosing.
