CUK organizes NCD screening, dental health camp

Ganderbal : Health Centre in association with the Directorate of Students Welfare (DSW), and the Department of Biotechnology, Central University of Kashmir (CUK), in collaboration with the District NCD Division, Chief Medical Officer’s Office Ganderbal, organized a one-day Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) screening and oral health awareness camp at the Nunar Campus of the varsity here on Tuesday.
According to a statement issued from Public Relations Office CUK here, the camp was inaugurated by Director Campus and Head, Department of Biotechnology, Prof. Abid Hamid, in the presence of medical officers, Dr. Abid and Dr. Sheeba, Mr. Mohammad Yaseen Mir, District Program Coordinator (DPC), from the CMO Office, Ganderbal. Mr. Javid Ali, Medical Attendant.
A team of health professionals, including Dr. Shazia and Dr. Aaliya, Dental Surgeons, and Fayaz Ahmad, Dental Technician participated in the camp. Dr. Haamid Peerzada (Medical Officer, NCD Clinic, DH Ganderbal), Mr. Mudasir Ali, (Counsellor), Muzamil Farooq (Staff Nurse) and Dr. Naiyla Ellahi (Physiotherapist, DH Ganderbal) were also present. Additionally, Crestcare Diagnostics Lab partnered in providing diagnostic services.
The camp offered a wide range of free health services, including NCD screening, oral health check-ups, BMI and vital sign assessments, along with free medications. Clinical blood tests were made available at either no cost or subsidized rates, ensuring affordable healthcare for all.
Over 270 students, faculty and staff members from the university benefited from these services. The collaboration between the university and the district’s healthcare division played a crucial role in raising awareness about the importance of preventive healthcare, especially focusing on NCDs and oral hygiene.
