JU organizes workshop on Entrepreneurship, Communication Skills at GDC Sidhra”

Jammu :The Department of Lifelong Learning (DLL), University of Jammu, in collaboration with Government Degree College, Sidhra, organized a one-day workshop on entrepreneurship, self-employment, and communication skills. The initiative aligns with the vision of the Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof. Umesh Rai, to enhance the employability skills of youth, equipping them to become job creators rather than job seekers.
According to a statement issued from Public Relations Office University of Jammu, the workshop was jointly inaugurated by Dr. Priyanka Sharma, Director, Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu, and Prof. G.S. Rakwal, Principal of Government Degree College, Sidhra. In his welcome address, Prof. Rakwal emphasized the importance of skill development for students, stating that it lays a strong foundation, encourages independent thinking, and motivates them to plan for their future. He praised the DLL’s efforts in organizing the workshop for the benefit of the students.
Dr. Priyanka Sharma, in her address, highlighted the significance of self-employment and the vital role of communication skills in making students more proficient and confident. She stressed that strong communication skills are not only essential for career success but also play a crucial role in education and social interaction. Dr. Sharma also discussed changing global employment trends and the need for youth to be prepared to meet these challenges.
Mr. Zahid Ali Dar, Incharge CIIBM, Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute, Jammu, the special resource person, provided insights into start-ups and entrepreneurship, and Ms. Neetu Dhar, Chief Coordinator and Master Trainer JKDCUL, Jammu, who conducted interactive sessions on body language, postures, and communication techniques. She engaged students in activities aimed at improving their communication skills.
Dr. Rewa Khajuria coordinated the workshop, highlighting its objectives, while Dr. Anu Sharma, Coordinator, Career Counselling Cell of the College managed the proceedings. Prof. Nisha delivered the vote of thanks. The workshop saw the participation of approximately 62 students.
