DLSA G’bal organizes Awareness prog on ‘Int’l Girl Child Day’

Ganderbal : The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal in collaboration with Chief Education Office Ganderbal and Govt. Higher Secondary School Kurhama Ganderbal celebrated ‘International Girl Child Day’ at Girls Higher Secondary School Kurhama.
The event, held under the guidance of Abdul Nasir, Chairman, DLSA Ganderbal, and the supervision of Sheikh Babar Hussain, Secretary DLSA Ganderbal, aimed to raise awareness about the challenges faced by girls and to promote their empowerment.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary DLSA Ganderbal eloquently highlighted the need to address challenges faced by girls, promoting empowerment, gender equality and the recognition of girls’ rights, emphasizing their potential and the need for their active participation in all spheres of life.
He added that girls’ safety is our collective responsibility; we must protect them from violence, exploitation and child marriage. The stirring speech culminated in a passionate call for action.
Rumysa Sangeen, Deputy Chief Education Officer delivered a powerful speech, emphasizing the significance of International Girl Child Day and its role in empowering girls. She said that a generational change has to come in our attitudes towards our daughters and the International Girl Child Day is the day to promote such a sentiment.
Students of the school shared their perspectives and aspirations, adding a personal touch to the event.
Other distinguished speakers, including Shubana, Chairperson Child Welfare Committee Ganderbal and Sobiya Social Worker, Special Cell for women also shared their insights on the occasion.
The event was further enriched by captivating cultural performances. The Secretary, DLSA and Principal Govt. Boys Hr. Secondary School Kurhama distributed certificates of appreciation among the students who participated in various activities.
To further amplify the message of empowerment and importance of Girl Child, a rally was organized from the Kurhama area, raising awareness about the importance of girls’ education and their rights.
