Kupwara: The 5th consecutive zonal-level medical assessment and fitment camp for Children with Special Needs (CWSN) in Kupwara, organized by the Chief Education Officer (CEO), took place at Government BMS Shaloora. The camp, targeting Vilgam and Kralpora zones, was conducted in collaboration with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation (ALIMCO) Kanpur, under the SAMAGRA SHIKSHA initiative.
On the fifth day, 140 CWSN were assessed, with many recommended for assistive devices and aids to be provided free of charge by SAMAGRA SHIKSHA J&K. This initiative, under the Inclusive Education Wing, aims to support the educational and personal development of these children, ensuring they can learn alongside their peers and contribute to society.
ZEO Kralpora and District Coordinator Inclusive Education were present in the day long assessment and supervised the event, stressing the importance of compassion and support for the vulnerable students. The camp was well-organized, with appropriate arrangements for seating, assessments, and refreshments.
District Coordinator for Inclusive Education expressed gratitude to all stakeholders—including Headmaster BMS Shaloora, Zonal Education Officers (ZEOS) Kralpora & Vilgam, Inclusive Education (IE) team, ALIMCO team , Zonal Nodal Officers (ZNOS), and School Nodal Officers (SNOs)—for their unwavering support and cooperation in the successful execution of the camp. The initiative will persist throughout the district to cover all identified CWSN, with similar camps scheduled across all zones, ensuring the comprehensive assessment of all identified CWSN and out-of-school children, in line with the broader objectives of inclusive education as outlined under the scheme.
