Ganderbal: In preparation for the upcoming vote counting process for the General Elections to the Legislative Assembly 2024, a one-day workshop was organized Monday for Counting Supervisors, Counting Assistants, and Micro Observers.
The event was presided over by the General Election Observer for District Ganderbal, R. Lakshmanan, who was joined by the Counting Observer, Sharmila C and the District Election Officer (DEO) Shyambir, held in the Conference Hall of Mini Secretariat, Ganderbal.
The workshop was designed to ensure that all officials involved in the counting process are thoroughly trained and familiar with their roles and responsibilities to facilitate a smooth and transparent counting process.
During the workshop, detailed instructions were provided to the participants on various aspects of the counting procedure, including handling of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) slips, and maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and transparency throughout the counting process.
The General Observer emphasized on the strict adherence to the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI) and on the importance of seamless coordination between different teams.
He highlighted the significance of this training for ensuring the credibility of the election process and urged all officials to carry out their duties with the utmost diligence.
The DEO reiterated the importance of the counting process and assured that all necessary arrangements are in place to ensure its smooth conduct.
The participants were given hands-on demonstrations on various procedures and were encouraged to ask questions to clarify any doubts.
This workshop marks a key step in the final stages of election preparations in District Ganderbal ahead of the counting of votes for the two Assembly Constituencies in the district.
