Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Sopore and recovered Contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party headed by SHO Police Station Tarzoo under the supervision of SDPO Sopore Sarfaraz Bashar at a checkpoint established at Sofi Akbar Road Chankhan intercepted and apprehended two suspects identified as Muzafar Ahmad Marazi @MuzzMarazi (notorious drug peddler) S/o Mohammad Akbar MaraziR/o SofiHamamSopore and Ishfaq Ahmad Lone S/o Abdul Majeed Lone R/o WangamBandipora.
Stating that during search, 5 grams of contraband Heroin like substance was recovered from the possession of the said accused following which they were arrested and shifted to Police Station Tarzoo where they remain in custody, Police in its statement further said that a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Tarzoo besides initiating further investigation into the case.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
