Srinagar: Below is the timeline of weeklong key public events and engagements of top public dignitaries witnessed this week within and outside J&K this week:-
1. MHA Trashes Omar’s Claims: The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has dismissed allegations by National Conference leader Omar Abdullah regarding a proposal to reduce the powers of the elected Chief Minister in Jammu and Kashmir. The MHA termed his claims “misleading and speculative,” asserting that no such proposal exists, and emphasized the commitment to a democratically elected government following the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act of 2019.
2. PM Modi Highlights India’s Intellectual Power: Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Kautilya Economic Conclave emphasized India’s position as the world’s largest source of affordable intellectual power. He stressed the importance of leveraging the country’s demographic dividend through education, innovation, and research, noting the establishment of numerous educational institutions under the New National Education Policy.
3. Abdullah Accuses BJP Of Altering Govt Procedures: Omar Abdullah has accused the BJP of instructing the Chief Secretary to amend the government’s transaction of business rules, claiming it’s an attempt to diminish the Chief Minister’s powers ahead of the Assembly polls.
