Jammu: In an operation under Kamdhenu, Jammu Police successfully thwarted an attempt at bovine smuggling in the Nagrota sub-division on Saturday.
Reports said that a team from Police Post Manwal intercepted a vehicle, bearing registration number JK14J/1429, at Krishanpur near Tawi Bridge, where they rescued six bovines. A statement issued by police reads that the driver of the vehicle fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle on the roadside. “Following the incident, police have registered a case under FIR No. 223/2024, citing violations of the Bovine Animal Protection Act,” it reads.
Sources said that authorities are currently conducting further investigations into the incident. They said that the public has expressed appreciation for the police’s ongoing efforts to combat bovine smuggling in the region.
