Srinagar: Devotees thronged to temples in J&K and paid obeisances on the first day of Navratri, which commenced on Thursday.
The devotees from early morning visited temples in the J&K and offered prayers besides performing puja on the auspicious occasion. Devotees were seen flocking to BaweWali Mata temple in Jammu and Mata Vaishno Devi temple in Katra on the Navratri’s first day.
The celebrations unfolded across the country and will continue for nine days during which the followers of Hinduism remain engrossed in worship.
“We are happy as it is an auspicious day for us all. May the Mata Rani bestow her blessing on all of us and keep the J&K secure from all things,” said Mandeep, a lady devotee, at BaweWali Mata temple.
“We have not slept since yesterday just to make sure that the Darshan will not be missed. However, I got the opportunity for Darshan at around 4 am. It was worth forgoing sleep for the glimpse of mata,” said another male devotee, who visited Mata Vaishno Devi temple along with his friends after a long time.
On the occasion, LG ManojSinha also extended his greetings to the people and said in a post on X, “Greetings and warm wishes to you and your family on the auspicious occasion of Navratri.”
