Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Kulgam and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a specific checkpoint at Khudwani Byepass was established by police party of Police Station Qaimoh , adding therein that during checking, one suspect identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Sheikh S/o Abdul Rahman Sheikh R/o Kawaki Bazar Qaimohwas intercepted who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. Police in its statement further said that after search, 750 grams of Cannabis like substance were recovered from the possession of the said accysed possession.
Stating that in yet similar action a police party led by InCharge Police Post JT at a checkpoint established at Gulab Bagh intercepted a suspect identified as Nizamuddin Kunshee S/o Mohd Abdullah Kunshee R/o Gulab Bagh while carrying a nylon bag , Police in its statement furthermore said that during search, 3 Kgs of Poppy Straw, 03.50 grams of Brown Sugar, 1 digital weighing machine and a cash amount of Rs 29,750/- pertaining to proceeds of narcotic substance were recovered from the possession of the said accused who was subsequently arrested on spot.
Police in it statement furthermore said that both the accused were been arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody, adding therein that cases under relevant sections of law were also registered at respective police stations and further investigation are underway.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to cooperate with it against the drug menace and any share information regarding anti-social activity in their neighbourhood with nearby police unit or Dial-112 so that timely action against the culprits will be taken.
